Bangladeshi Startup CMED Health won the Innovation Prize at Seedstars Summit 2018

CMED Health, the Dhaka-based preventive healthcare startup, has won the Innovation Prize by TAG Heuer at Seedstars Summit 2018 in Switzerland! “We are selected as the Most innovative and revolutionary startup in line with how revolutionary TAG Heuer has been on the worldwide watch-making sector.

This is a glorious moment for both CMED and Bangladesh” said Dr. Khondaker Abdullah Al Mamun, founder and CEO of CMED in a statement. As the winner of Innovation Prize, CMED will receive a $50K equity investment from Seedstars world and join their growth program.

CMED provides IoT enabled FDA/CE certified smart medical devices connected to cloud with AI driven health application that allows platform independent regular health monitoring, health record generation, health risk prediction, organization dashboard and doctors consultation (if needed) from your smartphone/laptop. CMED service is available through pharmacies in the community and people can go to a pharmacy and get CMED digital preventive healthcare services at very low cost. This is the first time a startup from Bangladesh has won the prize in Seedstars competition.

This year, in the seedstars world summit, 66 innovative startups from 66 countries, who are the local winner have participated in the Global Summit from April 9-12 at Swiss Tech Convention Center at Lausanne, Switzerland. Out of 66 participants the Seedstars Summit Pitch Corner brought together top 12 entrepreneurs from 12 different countries spanning 5 continents to pitch their startups at the main stage to a panel of international investors and executive summit attendees to be the winner of Awards in 8 different categories, Global winner, Top Innovation, Top Fintech, African Health Tech, African Energy, Women Entrepreneur, Most Time Saving, and Top EduTech startup. CMED selected in top 12 startup and finally won the top innovation prize.

CMED Health initiative is a research outcome of Advanced Intelligent Multidisciplinary Systems Lab (AIMS Lab) of United International University, which is a great example of research commercialization from academia to industry in Bangladesh. CMED is working to reduce the prevalence of Non-communicable diseases like diabetes, stroke through utilizing technology for improving quality of lives of people of Bangladesh.
