BCL reinstates Isha expelled for ‘torturing’ at Sufia Kamal Hall

Iffat Jahan Isha got back her position as president of Dhaka University’s Kabi Sufia Kamal Hall unit of ruling Awami League’s student wing, two days after she was expelled by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) following the allegations she had tortured female quota reform protesters.

“Our committee formed to probe the incident finds nothing about the allegation brought against her. So, she was reinstated,” said BCL President Saifur Rahman Sohag in a statement on Friday. In the early hours of Wednesday, the BCL temporarily suspended her over the allegation of torture.

In the same incident, Dhaka University proctor Golam Rabbani had also suspended Isha immediately after the incident.
