Affairs Minister of Bangladesh Mr. Asaduzzaman Noor today said toeing the line of modern world libraries of the country would be turned into one stop centers with all necessary facilities to attract readers.
He said efforts are being made to turn the book fairs into assemblies of real book-lovers instead of mere mass gatherings.
The minister speaking at the chief guest while inaugurating a super store of books named ‘Dhaka Batighar’ in city’s Bangla Motor area.
Emeritus Professor Dr Anisuzzaman, Educationist Sirajul Islam Chowdhury and Bangla Academy Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan were present, among others.
Founder Chairman of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed presided over the programme while proprietor of the organization Dipanker Das outlined about the ‘Dhaka Batighar’.
Noor said this time book fairs would be organised at 16 districts simultaneously to increase the attention of people about book-reading as around 80 publishing houses would join those.
The book shop ‘Batighar’ started its journey in Chittagong in 2005.
