Huawei becomes 2nd largest smartphone brand in Bangladesh

With the soaring popularity of its smartphones in Bangladesh, technology giant Huawei is now the 2nd largest smartphone brand in the country. Huawei’s commitment to customer satisfaction and quest for innovation has propelled the company to grab the second largest market share in Bangladesh.

As of now, smartphone accounts for 37% of the total handset market in Bangladesh. In this emerging market, Huawei has 15.5% market share in terms of volume, while in terms of value its market share also rose from 18.9% in Nov 2016 to 21.4% in December 2016, according to  GfK Retail Audit 2016.

Huawei’s strong drive in channel expansion, launch of new products and exciting promotional offers and campaigns are to be credit for the skyrocketing growth of the Chinese giant.

In December 2016, Huawei launched its new mid-range flagship GR5 2017. The dual-lens camera phone attracted customers resulting in over 5,000 pre-booking in the first 10 days of its launch. The newly launched GR5 2017 is playing a key role in accelerating growth for Huawei.

According to the report, mid-range devices ($200-300) are Huawei’s strongest suit that accounts for the company’s largest and fastest growing smartphone segment. In this price range, Huawei beats its competitors with the highest 45% market share.

About this milestone achievement, Ingmar Wang, Director of Device Business, Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited, said, “We, at Huawei, always believe that customers are the driving force behind our company’s success. Huawei has been maintaining a steady growth for the past couple of years in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a key market for us, and in 2017 we will live up to the expectation of our customers through bringing innovative and high-quality products in the country.”

Huawei is now the fastest growing smartphone brand in Bangladesh. According to data, Huawei has seen 232% year-on-year growth in smartphone sales from 2015 to 2016 in Bangladesh.
