Swapna Das’ debut book “A String of Pearls” was published in July 2016 in the UK. The book is a collection of eleven delightful short stories spanning many continents.
In her first book “A String of Pearls”, the Author Swapna Das has attempted to cater to the reading interest of all ages. A String of Pearls is a result of the Writer’s vivid imagination and each story unfolds a unique tale, and the subjects are differently portrayed.
The tales reflect the beauty of nature, personalities, the relationship between man and animals and the elements. The theme of the drama is also well captured in all the stories and the wonder of social media is described in the Paper Boys. The three stories about Malini is a tribute to the child, the young person and the woman. Swapna has skilfully defined nature’s wrath in Mayhem in Paradise, whilst the relationship between man and the sea animal is penned in The Early Morning Catch. As a writer, Swapna believes that imagination plays an important role and this has been entirely justified in all the stories. In her book, the author has cleverly avoided the use of dialogues so that greater emphasis could be placed on the narrative.
For a number of years, the Author has been collecting story ideas which she wanted to share. The best way to do so was to write a book and therefore a String of Pearls was written with enthusiasm and passion. The pearls are the stories. The main source of inspiration was the beauty and mystery of life and nature. For the Author, the best experience of writing the book was enjoyment and appreciation of the characters.
A String of Pearls is a family book for all ages. A few of the stories are written mainly for children, but adults will also find them exciting. The book has already generated significant interest and feedback has been positive.
