Tonic launches “Let’s Move Bangladesh!” challenge for November

Started on Tuesday, 1st of November, the “Let’s Move Bangladesh!” challenge officially kickedoff via Tonic’s Facebook page and website. Anyone from any corner of Bangladesh can accept the challenge by making a pledge for a healthier life, posting photos of themselves in movement with the hashtag #LetsMoveBD, and passing the challenge on to someone else. By the end of the challenge, participants will share their achievements for a chance to win exciting prizes as well as benefits for their community.

Tonic is offering a range of free benefits to help everyone achieve their goals for the Let’s Move Bangladesh! challenge.  Throughout November, Tonic will offer content through Facebook and mytonic.com that both inspires people to get moving and provides simple how-to information on easy ways to build movement into daily routines.

Additionally, through the Tonic Daktar service, Grameenphone customers with questions about the health benefits of movement can speak to a general medicine doctor simply by calling 789.

Of course, the movement is not something that happens online or over the phone, so Tonic has brought together a diverse group of partners to provide exclusive practical benefits relating to movement.

For Tonic members, these offers include 25% discount on gym subscriptions at Dhaka Regency Hotel, 33% on cardio check-ups at Apollo Hospital Dhaka, special rates on MI Band 2 at Cellfoni, 50% off on all accessories at Cycle Hub, one free scanning at Dhaka City Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Center every week, 10% on cycles and 50% on servicing at Cycle Junction, 50% off on select items at 5 Sports World outlets and 25% off the same at Multi Sports.

Moreover, at the Dhaka Pain Rehabilitation Center – members will get free consulting sessions on the 1st and 3rd Friday of November, 50% discount on all pathology tests, 40% discount for indoor patients, and 40% discount on outdoor physiotherapy sessions.

To top it all off, Tonic is inviting members to participate in a series of events over the course of November. Each week of November builds on the theme of movement benefitting a specific purpose; Week 1 focuses on ‘Move for Family’ – where Tonic will communicate with families on including movement as part of daily routine, Week 2 is dedicated to ‘Move for Health’ – where Tonic will host live question and answer session with an expert on World Diabetes Day (November 14th) about how movement helps prevent diabetes, Week 3 focuses on ‘Move to Look Good, Stand Out’ – where Tonic will engage with students from 8 universities (5 in Dhaka and one each in Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi) to boost physical movement, Week 4 is focused on ‘Move to Succeed’ – where Tonic will be participating as the official Wellness Partner for the Dhaka Half Marathon 2016, and Week 5 is dedicated to ‘Move for Community’ – where Tonic will engage at schools and parks to inspire the practice of physical activities as a group.

With this challenge, Tonic wants to focus on addressing ‘why movement matters’ – a recent survey conducted by Telenor Health and Nielsen Bangladesh revealed that knowledge of amount and frequency of physical activity was very high among Bangladeshis.

However, a lack of knowledge when it came to lifestyle change was reported as one of the main barriers preventing people from taking action. This shows that Bangladeshis have the desire to improve but do not have proper tools or guidance on how to go about doing so. This is where Tonic is stepping in to bridge the gap and act as a trusted partner to assist people in getting on the right path to wellness.
